Here are a few more affordable beauty products to look for on a trip to Japan. (See Part 1) Everything recommended here is quite reasonably priced, and can even be considered inexpensive, so they’re definitely worth your attention.

Unicharm Silcot 1/2 Sponge Facial Cotton Pads

This is one of the top-selling products in most drugstores in Japan. Keep in mind, this isn’t for removing makeup but is specially made to use with toner and other skincare lotions.

When it comes to buying cotton pads, we mainly look at the price and texture. In this case, however, the pad is specially shaped, firstly for applying toner/skincare products, and then to be used as an under eye mask. So you can make full use of the product poured onto the cotton pad! Also, you need to use only half the normal amount of skincare product.

After using one cotton pad to pat moisturiser on your entire face, you can pull its 2 layers apart and place them under your eyes for use as a facial mask. The curved edge is designed to fit nicely under your eyes. Allow it to rest there for a few minutes, so the delicate undereye skin can absorb more than usual.

One box contains 40 pads, and it’s only ¥145! If you see it, do consider getting a few boxes, as it ends up saving you money in the long run!

Horse Oil Skin Cream

The discomfort of dry skin can really ruin your day, especially in winter and dry air-conditioned environments. Horse oil skin cream is another top seller in Japanese drugstores that’s also super affordable. Generally, you just need to apply it at night before you go to bed, and your skin won’t dry out or crack, even in winter. It’s easy and convenient to carry with you too. In our tropical climate, it may be too rich for some people, but if you suffer from dry or flaky skin and/or like to travel to cold countries a lot, this can be a very good preventative care product.

Price: ¥350 for a 220g jar.

Kao Clear Clean Toothpaste

This toothpaste comes in a range of awesome flavors, including Fresh Mint, Natural Mint and Fresh Citrus. This one, Fresh Citrus, is full of tangy orange flavor and fragrance. Those who wear braces or just love a deep clean feeling will definitely fall in love with this. Used every day, it can remove stains and keep your breath clean and fresh.

Price: ¥200 for a 130g tube.
