If you are travelling to Aichi Prefecture in the near future, do you know where to look for Halal or Muslim-friendly food? In this article, we are going to show you a few Halal/Muslim-friendly restaurants selections so you know where to go and what to order.
Travelling to Aichi isn’t complete without you tasting its excellent miso-stewed udon (Miso nikomi udon). The one and only Japanese restaurant that serves this dish to Muslims is Yamamotoya (Ookute branch).
Unlike many restaurants you’ve been to, here in Yamamotoya, the udon is exclusively handmade. Usually, to make udon, they will add salt to add a savoury taste to it. However, in this store, the udon is made entirely from just flour and water. This technique allows customers to get the original flavour of udon.

Miso-stewed udon is the most popular item here and you can add chicken or egg to make it more appetizing. The udon is cooked with broth that contains miso paste which is Aichi’s speciality. They also serve Halal chicken wings (Tebasaki), Chicken Katsu (Miso Kushi Katsu), Oden, and tenmusu (onigiri with tempura fillings). All Muslim-friendly dishes are cooked with Halal seasonings, Muslim-friendly cooking utensils, including the cutleries. Although Yamamotoya hasn’t acquired the Halal certificate due to their other non-Halal dishes, rest assured, it is safe for Muslim tourists to dine here.
