Double the Fun with Cosplay Karaoke

Singing the song from the radio has never been more fun with the invention of the karaoke box. Since the 1960s, this entertainment made its name in Japan and later at other counties across the globe. Today, karaoke is very still popular among the young and the old, particularly among students and adults in Japan, as it is therapeutic and helps to relieve stress.

Unlike karaoke boxes in other countries, some establishments in Japan offer an interesting in-house costume rental service for cosplay. While this concept may sound strange for those who never heard of cosplay karaoke before, it is a norm in Japan. Besides being a dream come true for otakus, this service also appeals for non-otakus who just want to have fun and relief some stress. After all, all you have to do is pick an outfit you like and have a great karaoke session!

While cosplay karaoke is offered at some karaoke boxes in major cities, I recommend Tokyo for a cosplay karaoke experience. Let’s find out more about some of these specific karaoke locations.

1. Adores

Adores is game arcade strategically located in Akihabara which offers cosplay karaoke. Better-known as an anime-themed game centre, karaoke is merely one of the entertainment attractions in this 10-storey building. Each floor is dedicated for different purposes such as game arcade, cosplay rental, exhibition, shop and café.

To rent a cosplay outfit, go to the ninth floor where there is the display of outfits and dressing rooms. Just pick a suitable outfit and you could proceed for a karaoke session. There is no rental cost for the outfit, but take note that this free service is only applicable for karaoke session in concept rooms on the 9th floor. The concept rooms here come in three different styles: princess, gothic and stage.

If you are spending a day at Akihabara, I recommend dropping by Adores for a few hours of cosplay karaoke. It would be a good time to take a rest to sit down and sing after all walking from block to block!

2. Karaoke-kan

At another side of Tokyo in Shibuya, Karaoke-kan is another location to rent cosplay costumes. This karaoke chain store is one of the most popular in Japan as it could be found in major cities across the country. If you think this particular branch in Shibuya looks somewhat familiar, it is most likely because it appeared in the movie Lost in Translation.

As for the rental costumes offered here, you could find nurse outfits, sailor uniforms and anime costumes. The selection of food and drinks is decent and the karaoke session here would not burn your pocket. On top of that, the Karaoke-kan here is also suitable for a large group of people as there is enough capacity.

The Geisha Cosplay stood out from the regular cosplay karaoke boxes as it offers more than just cosplay rental. This karaoke establishment has a team of professional hair stylists, make-up artists, singers and cameraman that would make your cosplay karaoke an unforgettable experience.

Located at Kabukicho, Shinjuku’s exciting nightlife city, customers can first have a henshin course, which is a cosplay and makeover session. After that, proceed to the karaoke course and have a great time. Customers could also opt to have a professional singer to be in the karaoke room for an extra fee. If you are looking for a unique and extravagant cosplay karaoke, this is definitely for you.
